This Homemade Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing is creamy, tangy, and absolutely addicting. Great as a dipping sauce or salad dressing, this ranch tastes amazing on everything! It is loaded with lots of herbs and spices that will give any dish a flavor boost.
I am kind of a ranch dressing connoisseur. It is by far my absolute favorite condiment. And I can still remember the first time I tasted ranch and let's just say it was love at first bite. What is your favorite condiment?
I am always looking for ways to spice up this classic dressing. So I put a bit of a Mexican inspired spin on traditional ranch dressing by adding avocado and lime.
The avocado adds a beautiful color, extra creaminess, and lots of healthy fats. And the lime juice adds an extra tang. These flavors make this dressing perfect for southwest salads, burrito bowls, or tacos.

Instructions
before you start
- Locate your food processor! This is key to getting the dressing extra creamy and blended.
Step 1: Add all of the ingredients into the food processor.
Step 2: Pulse until smooth. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed to make sure everything is combined.
Expert Tips
- Use a pretty ripe avocado. If the avocado is too hard, it will not blend as well and the dressing will not be as smooth and creamy.
- To make this dressing spicy, try adding a fresh jalapeño. You can remove the seeds for less spice or leave them for more heat.
- If you want the dressing to be thinner, add a splash more buttermilk and pulse until it is the desired consistency.
FAQs
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
I normally keep this dressing in my fridge for 3-4 days and have not experienced it turning brown. If you keep it longer (not recommended), it might.
I do not recommend replacing the buttermilk with regular milk. Buttermilk is thicker and has a nice tang. In a pinch you can make your own buttermilk replacement by combining 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar. You would substitute the ½ cup of buttermilk in this recipe for ½ cup of this mixture.
