Ingredients & Substitutions
- Kosher Salt: All of my recipes are tested with Morton kosher salt unless noted otherwise. It is the best salt for everyday cooking because of its size and flavor. If using table salt, the amount should be reduced. I highly recommend picking up some kosher next time you are at the store!

How to Make English Muffin Pizzas in the Air Fryer
Quick Overview
- Place English muffin halves in the air fryer.
- Add seasoning and toppings.
- Air fry.
Step by Step Instructions
Do not overstuff the air fryer. Cook the pizzas in batches if necessary.
Use toothpicks to prevent the pepperoni from shifting in the air fryer.
Step 1: Split the english muffins in half and place about 4 halves in your air fryer basket (depending on the size of your basket).
Step 2: Drizzle olive oil or spread butter on each. Season with Italian seasoning and garlic.
Step 3: Spread a layer of tomato sauce on two and ricotta on the remaining two.
Step 4: Add the mozzarella on top.
Step 5: Finish the tomato sauce pizzas with pepperoni. Press the pepperoni down so it does not fly around in the air fryer.
Step 6: Air fryer for 5 minutes at 380 degrees or until the cheese is melted. Repeat with the remaining english muffins.

Expert Tips
- Adjust time as needed. Every air fryer is different, so the air fryer english muffin pizzas time will vary depending on the appliance in your home. Start with 4-5 minutes and adjust from there.
- Avoid setting the temperature too high. Since air fryers cook items quickly, setting the appliance to a too-hot temperature can mean burned English muffin pizzas. Instead, keep the air fryer English muffin pizza temperature to about 375-380F.
- Don’t overload the English muffins. The cheese can’t melt properly if you add too many toppings to each English muffin. Instead, stick with 1-2 toppings (besides the cheese/sauce) per muffin for the best results.
Additions & Variations
- Use your favorite toppings: When making these air fryer English muffin pizzas, you can use whichever toppings you desire. Here are a few ideas: homemade pizza sauce, bell peppers, mushrooms, mini pepperoni slices, cooked sausage, bacon bits, banana peppers, sliced red onions, and olives.
- Try pasta sauce: If you don’t have pizza sauce on hand (or forgot to buy it at the store), you can use pasta sauce instead. Marinara sauce and alfredo sauce taste delicious with various pizza toppings.
- Add a cheese mixture. Instead of only using mozzarellas for this recipe for English muffin pizza in air fryer, you can use any cheese mixture you like. An Italian cheese mix with parmesan, asiago, and mozzarella works well. Cheese mixtures will help add more flavor to each mini pizza.
Recipe FAQs
Since air fryers are meant to cook items quickly, certain recipes, like pizza, require an additional step. Prevent your pizza from being soggy by cooking the raw dough by itself first in the air fryer or oven. Then, add the toppings and cook for a few more minutes until the cheese is melted.
If you’re adding a lot of sauce to these air fryer English muffin pizzas, you may find the bottom of the pizza is soggy. You can prevent this by toasting the English muffins first, then cooking them with toppings. Additionally, you can reduce the amount of sauce so it does not soak through the muffins.
There are advantages to both cooking methods. Air fryers work well for smaller or individual pizzas. They also cook faster than an oven. However, ovens are great for larger pizzas and pizzas with thicker crusts. The type of pizza you cook will help determine which method is best.
Unfortunately, the answer to “How long to cook an English muffin in an air fryer?” is not straightforward as all air fryers cook slightly differently. Check your air fryer pizzas at the four-minute mark. If the cheese is melted, they’re ready to eat. If not, add another 1-2 minutes and check again.

I made these English muffin pizza bites today. Bri these were sooooo good. My son and hubby enjoyed them so much, they asked me to make them again tomorrow. I did not have ricotta, so I used pizza sauce with pepperoni and buttered the muffins and toasted them in the airfryer for one minute before adding the sauce and toppings. So good!
