These ham and cheese sliders on King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls are my go to for holiday or Super Bowl parties or winter lunches. In the summertime, I love to make my BLT Sliders.

Another great easy appetizer to serve with these are my Air Fryer Frozen Egg Rolls or Easy Bisquick Sausage Balls.

To make these a meal, I love to pair them with Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes or this simple Kale Crunch Salad.

Expert Tips & Variations

  • Carefully cut the Hawaiian rolls. You do not want the rolls to separate when you cut them. I recommend using a sharp serrated knife when cutting bread.
  • Evenly place the fillings and toppings. You want to ensure every slider has a little bit of everything.
  • Do not skip the butter. This is the best part of baked ham sliders. It adds so much flavor and makes these the best.
  • Keep them warm. If you are serving these at a party, cover them with foil so they stay warm.
  • Reheat in the oven. This prevents the leftover sliders from becoming soggy.
  • If you don’t like ham, try turkey. I prefer ham for this recipe, but turkey works perfectly as well.

Recipe FAQs

Can sliders be prepared ahead of time?

Yes. Prepare the sliders through Step 5. Cover with foil. Prepare and brush on the butter mixture right before baking. Add 5-10 minutes to covered baking time because the dish is cold.

What cheese goes with ham?

I prefer cheddar or swiss cheese with ham, but colby jack, american, or provolone all pair well too. Ham and swiss sliders are very common.

How do you keep sliders from getting soggy?

Avoid adding anything to them with excess moisture. If your ham is wet, pat it dry before assembling.

Do ham and cheese sliders freeze well?

I do not recommend freezing leftovers. The bread and fillings will not hold up very well. You can always halve the recipe if there are too many.

These are amazing and so simple to make. I love the combination of the honey and Dijon mustard, it’s like a savory and sweet combo and I can’t get enough of it.

For taste ? I give it a 5, the temperature is to high should be more like 350 and the cooking time is to long no more then 20 minutes. 10 minutes covered and 10 uncovered.

    1. Brianna May says:

I will add a range to the time. I have not had any issues with the temp. Thanks! Your oven might run hot.

    2. Penny R. says:

I agree! Great flavor but, oven temperature too high and time too long. The bottom of the rolls burned and the filling could’ve used more time.
My son is a chef and he confirmed this.
